The difference between a suit that looks good and one that looks exceptional is almost always fit. A great suit that doesn't fit is just an expensive disappointment. The good news is that most fit problems — no matter how the suit was bought — can be fixed.
At Praetorian Bespoke, we offer professional suit alterations and clothing alterations across the Gold Coast. Whether it's a suit you've owned for years, something you've just bought off the rack, or a garment that needs restoring, we approach every alteration with the same care we give to our bespoke work.
What we alter
We handle the full range of suit and clothing alterations, including:
Taking in or letting out the jacket waist, chest and side seams — the most common adjustment for suits that fit in the shoulders but nowhere else. Shortening or lengthening jacket sleeves, with or without working buttonholes. Tapering trouser legs for a cleaner, more contemporary silhouette. Taking in the seat and thighs for a better drape. Shortening trouser hems with a clean finish that matches the original. Adjusting shirt collars, cuffs and body fit. Repairing linings, replacing buttons, and re-stitching seams.

Off-the-rack suits — making them work
Most men who buy a quality suit from a department store or online find that it fits reasonably in one area and poorly in another. That's not a flaw in the suit — it's the nature of mass production. Off-the-rack suits are graded to fit the middle of a size distribution, not any individual body.
The good news is that a well-made off-the-rack suit is excellent raw material for alteration. If the shoulders fit — and the shoulder seam is the one part that's very difficult to alter — almost everything else can be adjusted. A $400 suit that fits perfectly will look better than a $1,200 suit that doesn't.

How it works
Bring the garment in wearing the shoes you'll wear with it — heel height affects trouser length more than most people realise. We'll discuss what you'd like changed, pin the alterations while you're wearing it, and give you a clear timeline and price. Most standard alterations are ready within five to seven business days.
